a5c7b9f00b Tromaville has a monstrous new hero. The Toxic Avenger is born when meek mop boy Melvin falls into a vat of toxic waste. Now evildoers will have a lot to lose. Melvin is a social misfit who works in the Tromaville Health Club. He is always suffering the abuse of two bullies and their respective girlfriends and the four are also murderers. But all the abuse is going to end when Melvin accidentally falls into some barrels with toxic material. Now he is "The Toxic Avenger" and soon he will be the hero of Tromaville and a menace to the corrupt mayor. "The Toxic Avenger" is an odd case where I cannot give the film a vote. After all, in so many ways it's a terrible movie...with horrible acting, an insane story and more ways to offend people than many of John Waters' films! But, at the same time, the film never tries to be anything else. It's a bad movie and clearly WANTS to be a bad movie...which make it pretty unique.<br/><br/>In the hellishly awful town of Tromaville, punks, bullies and sociopaths seem to be everywhere. You'll see these folks, for kicks, say a LOT of politically incorrect things, attempt to rape a blind girl AFTER they shotgun her seeing eye dog and run amok deliberately running over children...and then backing up over their heads to make sure they're dead...and it's pretty grisly. Therefore it's NOT a film for kids or anyone with taste..or anyone who doesn't want to see guys kicked in the crotch again and again and again. However, when poor Melvin is bullied, he ends up falling into some conveniently located open radioactive waste barrels...and he becomes the Toxic Avenger. Again and again, he confronts these scum-bags and kills or maims them...and becomes a very strange super-hero in the process!<br/><br/>The bottom line is that for bad film junkies and folks who want a laugh and don't mind all the super-offensive story elements, then by all means watch it. It's not a film to show your mother or Father O'Malley!<br/><br/>The film, by the way, is kind of like the play "Toxic Avenger" but is also quite different. Both are tacky and fun, however. Well you know what your going get when you head first in troma movie. <br/><br/>As soon as the movie started, I could not stop laughing and these bunch of Adults in there early to mid 30's acting like teens in this, the acting in this movie was So bad it was laughable.<br/><br/>The movies keep going on, I loved the plot the movie, was really clever, Horror fans never really had their own monster superhero <br/><br/>Well that kind of original Idea in 80's, this movie as some decent amount of Bloody deaths. <br/><br/>But I do think they spent bit to long death scenes just kill them already. <br/><br/>Well acting didn't really bother movie after first 10 minutes, I think it's improved just tiny bit, with rest of the over the top movie. <br/><br/>This movie falls in to that the movie is SO bad it's good for a Laugh. <br/><br/>6 out of 10 Cruddy, primal, extremely violent, and fairly entertaining, this 1984 feature from the New York-based exploitation outfit Troma, Inc. (Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz) captures some of the snot-flicking spirit of the old EC comics. How much you'll enjoy its deliberate crudity probably depends on how far you can let yourself regress to surly adolescence. Yes, it's true. The so-called Unrated Extended Cut was released in Germany on VHS and features the well-known Unrated Version plus the deleted scenes reintegrated into the movie. Therefore this versions is nearly 12 minutes longer than the Director's Cut. In the UK, the cult film (that by now spawned 3 sequels) was released in a shortened version on VHS as well as DVD. Only the VHS tape released by Vipco and a very rare edition released by Troma are uncut. All shortened versions are missing nearly four and a half minutes of footage. Not sure if she appears in the theatrical, but she is definitely in the DC. She may be in the crowd when the lights come on and Melvin is kissing the sheep (with the red bikini)... but if you REALLY want to get a good look at her, go near the end of the film. When Toxie goes back to the gym later in the movie to take care of Julie (Cindy Manion), he confronts her by a mirror. A woman screams and Toxie spins around to see... Marisa Tomei (in a full body blue and purple striped swimsuit), who promptly spins around and runs away.
